Project synopsisMalt Coast are a young craft brewery based on the North Norfolk coast. The unique conditions of sandy loam over chalk soil, low rainfall and spring sea mists characterise the Maris Otter barley they trace from grain to glass on their award-winning farm.
In collaboration w/Aaron Skipper, we created a distinctively paired-back identity with label designs that utilised white space, custom brand typography and painterly illustration as part of a unique brand position.
An all-over matt varnish on the waterproof, plasticised labels lends a satisfying tactile quality to the key brand touchpoint. A second highly textured varnish-finish is applied over the illustrated area to heighten this haptic response.
Within the illustration a narrative rhythm runs through each label design, leading the viewer through the brewers’ farmland and the surrounding North Norfolk region, the Malt Coast.
