Project synopsisHattie Newman intricately hand-cuts and assembles sophisticated paper images and set designs into vibrant films, advertisements, installations and editorial. Working across a variety of scales, her captivating projects have been internationally exhibited; inspiring commissions from model maps of the London Olympic Park to editorial for The Washington Post. We were commissioned to create a visual identity system, website and supporting printed materials.
Abstracting the forms of the minute coloured offcuts that scatter Hattie’s studio, the identity incorporates a sense of Hattie’s daily practice. Playfully adjusting the scale, a series of compositions and colourways were developed from a palette that referenced her own work. The resulting visuals are paired with the confident contrast of assertive and elegant typefaces, Dia Black and Ogg.
